On To The Next One

So with my last 1/2 Marathon firmly in the rear view mirror, it is 'On To The Next One'  -  the 板橋Cityマラソン (Itabashi City Marathon) in two weeks.
Jay Z - On To The Next One
Great song to run to!

Anywho, since my last 1/2 Marathon running sessions have been going absolutely great.  I can tell I continue to get faster during weekday speed work and tempo runs.  My Garmin watch tells me so, and things just "feel" easier/faster week after week.  And the weekend 20+ milers just keep getting knocked out week after week.  And as the course is a pretty flat out and back along the Arakawa river in the Tokyo area, if I can catch a day with cool temps and light to no winds....  I think I just might put in a sub-3 hour race.

I may be being a little delusional, but so what!!!  Sometimes you need to be a little delusional to break through what really is only a mental barrier.  Like these two guys - Jake & Zane Robertson.  I love the quote by Reid Coolsaet (Canadian Olympic Marathoner) about 15 seconds into the video "I think as a runner, it is good to be a little delusional, to think that you can reach certain levels.  And they're definitely delusional."  Ha!  hilarious quote.

These guys definitely seem to be a little nuts.  Love it!

So the game plan is to go at a 3 hour pace, click off the miles, and at around 18 miles I figure I'll either dig deep, live the delusional dream and pull it off, or... ...  absolutely blow up, have the wheels come off, and stagger/stumble in the last few miles.  But so what if I do!  It will be fun finding out which it will be!

So basically that is about it.  The hay is in the barn after a great 21 miler earlier today, will start slowly tapering down and then time to get delusional and get after it!!!

Running is Awesome!
